The Hearth, Patio, and Barbecue Association reports that the peak day for grill purchases is the Sunday before Memorial Day. If you didn’t manage to snag a grill in May, it’s best to hold off for a bit longer.

Surge pricing is common when demand spikes, particularly for seasonal products like grills. Prices typically start to drop after the Fourth of July, but they might still not be the best. The ideal time to buy a grill is when the weather cools down, usually around September. Although grills are popular gifts for Father’s Day, consider opting for grilling tools or other practical gadgets instead to avoid overspending.

What to Avoid: Air Conditioners

Similar to grills, purchasing air conditioners in the summer can be a costly mistake (unless absolutely necessary). Finding attractive deals is challenging until early fall, when demand for AC units begins to wane.

However, the wait can be worth it, as manufacturers often reduce prices significantly in the fall. With seasonal events like Halloween, Black Friday, and various holiday sales approaching, retailers are eager to make room for new inventory. This often means slashing prices on leftover summer products, including air conditioning units.

What to Avoid: Mattresses

May brought some excellent mattress deals thanks to Memorial Day promotions. If you missed those offers, don’t fret! Another significant sales event is just around the corner during the Fourth of July weekend, providing great discounts on a variety of bedding products, including comfortable mattresses. However, if you can wait until September, that’s even better, as Labor Day typically features the most significant markdowns on mattresses. So hang tight and wait for the right moment to make your purchase. Happy shopping!
