At last year’s MagicCon in Las Vegas, Wizards of the Coast made a thrilling announcement about three collaboration sets set to debut in Magic: The Gathering in 2025: Final Fantasy, Spider-Man, and a yet-to-be-revealed mystery set. Today, during an engaging preview session at MagicCon Chicago, the mystery set’s intellectual property was unveiled as none other than Avatar: The Last Airbender.
During the panel, attendees were treated to a teaser video showcasing the vibrant characters and stunning artwork that will be included in the upcoming set, which is scheduled to release on November 21. In addition, fans can anticipate the Final Fantasy set launching in June, while the release date for Spider-Man has yet to be confirmed.
The 2025 MTG release schedule also highlights three exciting in-universe sets: Aetherdrift, Tarkir: Dragonstorm, and Edge of Eternities. At the MagicCon Chicago event, several cards from Tarkir: Dragonstorm were revealed, including the highly anticipated serialized Headliner card, Mox Jasper. This addition marks the first new card in Magic’s esteemed “mox” line since 2020.
Moreover, fans can expect fresh cards and expansions from a variety of beloved franchises such as The Walking Dead, Fortnite, Street Fighter, Tomb Raider, Hatsune Miku, The Lord of the Rings, Fallout, and Doctor Who. The Universes Beyond initiative has successfully introduced exciting new content to Magic: The Gathering, expanding its universe in innovative and surprising ways.
